Lancaster Residents to Pack Courthouse In Support of Home Rule Campaigns

This fall, 800 Martic residents and 1700 Conestogans signed a petition in support of a community-rights ordinance to stop the Atlantic Sunrise pipeline from running through their townships. Their supervisors refused to budge. Now residents are trying to take the wheel of both townships through a process called Home Rule.

As reported on LancasterOnline, Home Rule opponents - including one township supervisors’ spouse and other local political party officials - have attempted to block the process to go Home Rule on the May ballot by filing a legal challenge.

The court date for the legal challenge is 9am, this Friday - March 27th - at the Lancaster County Courthouse.  Supporters of Home Rule are expected to pack the courthouse and line the sidewalks outside in support of their campaigns.
