Dear LAP Friends,
Last week, FERC got an earful from PA residents expressing passionate opposition to the ASP during four lively hearings.
Thanks to all who came out & made their voices heard! From delivering public comments to FERC, to proudly displaying our protest quilt, to greeting folks with banners and signs, we formed a powerful presence & sent a clear message.
However, we have more work to do! The final deadline to submit comments on FERC's laughable ("less-than-significant") DEIS is only six days away (Monday, June 27). For the past few weeks, industry shills from as far away as Florida, Texas, and Louisiana have been flooding the ASP docket with pro-gas comments, urging FERC to grant approval to the project as soon as possible.
The time has come for us to respond in a big way, countering their claims by highlighting the immeasurable risks, permanent harms, and significant adverse impacts that this pipeline will bring to PA. That's why we're asking all members & friends of LAP to join us for a DEIS letter writing party this coming Sunday, 4-6 PM, at the George Street Cafe in Millersville (304 N. George Street).
HERE'S THE PLAN:
1/ Come to George Street Cafe this Sunday, June 26 @ 4 PM
2/ Bring your laptop (the cafe has internet to submit online comments to FERC.gov)
3/ If you don't have a laptop, we'll have paper & pen ready! We'll simply scan handwritten comments & submit them online, too.
4/ Light refreshments will be available; feel free to bring beverages of your choosing.
* If 50 people come, and we each write 6 comments in 2 hours, we can produce 300 comments before we leave!
Don't forget to bring a friend! Let's make this a party FERC can't ignore.
