This Saturday, Nov. 1, beginning at 10am at Executive Coach in Willow Street, Lancaster Against Pipelines (LAP) will continue their “It’s All of Us” campaign with a citizens’ bus tour of the proposed pipeline route.  The bus will stop briefly at an affected landowner’s home in each township along the route of the proposed pipeline. Lancaster Against Pipeline is billing their tour as “by the people, for the people.”  The local movement asserts Joe Pitts’ previous bus tour was “by politicians, for politicians.”

LAP reached out to county politicians, township boards, political candidates, scientists, and many impacted environmental groups and nonprofits to invite them on their November 1st bus tour. The tour will be led by local landowners, area experts, and representatives of Lancaster Against Pipelines.

Representatives from the Lancaster Farmland Trust, Lancaster County Conservancy, and Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper will be on the bus. Each potentially impacted township will be sending a representative. Several candidates for political office have confirmed their attendance for the bus tour.  Local scientists, high school & college students, and landowners are also expected to attend.  Lancaster City Council, too, will be represented on the tour.

Many local politicians declined participation in the Citizen-Led Bus Tour before the election.  Congressman Joe Pitts, Representatives David Hickernell, Bryan Cutler, Mindy Fee, Senators Mike Brubaker, Bob Casey Jr., Lloyd Smucker all declined to participate in the bus tour.  No response was received, despite multiple attempts, from the offices of Representative Ryan Aument and Senator Pat Toomey.

Lancaster Against Pipelines would like to thank Hurricane Pizza for providing complimentary refreshments for the bus tour attendees.
